Things began to slowly decline for the area but it was when the infamous blackout occurred in 1977 when Bushwick was hit the hardest and required to start fresh. It’s then that, over many years, artists began making Bushwick their home.
This neighborhood has a unique vibe full of vibrant streets surrounded by art, not just on the old factory walls, but also in art galleries.
Well-known restaurants surround Bushwick, among them a wide variety of Hispanic and Latin American food.
Bushwick is served by nearby subway stations including L, M, J, and Z lines with multiple stops.
